Lady Andariel

Awake, yet somehow suffocating in the depths of this dream
I move with labored limbs
I see with blind eyes
My heart beats in tempos unbecoming.
I speak in muffled sounds
Nonsense and cackles
Dry sand in the cracks of a broken and abandoned driveway
On a sweltering summer day are the noises that I’ve somehow found.
My neck embellished in scratching starch; my head encapsulated in gelatin filled balloons floating amongst long since dead riverbeds snuggled next to petrified branches and dead hearts.
I beg you to give me breath!
You cannot hear me beseeching for one last attempt!
Pray tell, why will you not take my hand and pull my soul from this quicksand?
You see and hear only rainbows and butterflies!
You cover deceased and rotting bodies with blankets of corrugated lies! Cardboard manufactured to feel like expensive camisoles fabricated of silk and champagne.
And so we die as you dine on fancy wine and dance upon the crystal skulls.
